About Us

Hailing from the musical hotbed that is Charlbury in Oxfordshire, where it sometimes seems that every third person you meet is a musician, 1000 Mile Highway are:

  • Dave Oates: Guitar and Vocals
  • Alan Jenkins:  Guitars and Mandolin
  • Jessica Marshall: Fiddle, Vocals
  • Ian Phillips: Bass
  • Ian Clark: Drums, Harmonica, Vocals

As well as the normal gig circuit, the band has played numerous local festivals including (in no particular order) Witney Music Festival, Libfest, Thamesfest, Nor Lye, Charlbury Beer Festival, Chadlington Beer Festival, Finstock Festival, Woodstock Live, Riverside Festival and Charlbury Street Fair. We have also appeared at the nationally promoted Cornbury Music Festival and Wilderness Festival. In fact, the band has been booked for every Wilderness festival and made an impressive 3 appearances at 2012's Wilderness and 4 in 2013! The band have also been broadcast live on RadioMOnline across the globe! It also seems that Ridge Radio have taken a bit of a shine to us and keep playing our stuff!

We are primarily a covers band, though in no sense a tribute act. We take material from sources as diverse as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, through classic Country artists to more modern performers such as Eric Church; all this by way of Steve Earle and Bruce Springsteen! We are also steadily adding to our stock of self-penned material. Our aim is to take Americana and roots music and put our own stamp on it and make it something that sends you to bed with a smile on your face.
